Live Webinar on 11/23/21 from 10-11am (CST): Google attempted to disrupt the computer market in with the introduction of its Chrome OS, which appeared on the first laptops in 2011. Eschewing the traditional computer setup, Google introduced the idea of cloud computing, but despite this new direction they did not leave people with disabilities behind. In this course we will discover the accessibility features built into Chrome OS for people with vision loss including magnification, contrast enhancement, text-to-speech, dictation, Chromevox and more. Using these features, a person who is low vision or blind can use their Chromebook to its full extent whether using it for work, school, or home!

Presenters: Luke Scriven & Cory Ballard
Luke Scriven began his career as an optician in England, before moving to Chicago in 2011 and transitioning into the assistive technology field. He completed a graduate degree in Assistive Technology and Human Services from California State University, Northridge in 2018, during which he took over management of the assistive technology program at The Chicago Lighthouse. In 2019, Luke transitioned to a position at Vision Forward, where he continues to serve people with vision loss, helping them to meet all their technology goals.
Cory Ballard has worked in the assistive technology field for over ten years. He graduated from UW Whitewater and completed the assistive technology applications certificate program from California State University, Northridge and he most recently obtained his certification as an assistive technology instructional specialist, CATIS. Cory’s personal experience with vision loss and expertise with adaptive technology enable him to provide a first-hand perspective on the tools he recommends and uses in his training. As a presenter and trainer, Cory always presents information in a way that makes sense.
