Pre-Recorded Webinar: An overview of the Vision of WIOA for customer service, it’s provisions for the implementation of a collaborative service system, and what this means for people with disabilities. This session addresses the act’s vision for customer service by a collaborative system through American Job Centers, and the provisions for governance and roles of programs that are a part of the system.

Upon completion of this webinar, participants will be able to

  1. Recognize the vision of customer service in WIOA, as provided through guidance. 
  2. Understand roles of participating programs and entities established to provide “governance” in implementation. 
  3. Recognize opportunities and strategies to enhance “collective impact” of the full system of programs on a community and with people with disabilities. 

Presenter: Doug Keast

Doug Keast is a Project Manager for the National Disability Institute.  Since 1979, he has worked in sheltered workshops, coordinated a Supported Employment and provided technical assistance to County Officials implementing Supported Employment.  Doug served on Iowa’s WIA implementation team, that supported the development of the local WIBs, facilitated strategic planning and MOU development between WIBs and the service entities in their communities.  With NDI, Doug has provided technical assistance through the Disability Employment Initiative and coordinated NDI’s team addressing WIOA Systems Alignment and Common Performance Measures with the Workforce Innovation Technical Assistance Center (WINTAC). Doug has a Master of Science degree in Vocational Rehabilitation from Drake University.
